After receiving my copy of Lips Number 1 Hits in the post, I just couldn’t wait to get home and start singing…. Ok I sound like a cat being swung round someone’s head, but Lips isn’t about being good. Its about having a laugh and most importantly, how much of a fool you can make of yourself singing one of your favourite songs.

Lips No 1 Hits is a true party game and to tell the truth if you have the first lips it is more of an expansion on that. But don’t let that put you off as it is well worth getting, you are supplied with about 32 new tracks and you have access to all the songs you have downloaded so far for the first Lips. Now some of the default songs on the first lips will not come over due to license issue, but on main they are all there!

The whole set up is vastly improved from the previous lips, the menus are more user friendly and you get little pointers as you navigate the menus. There is a nifty feature where all of your downloaded songs (and by that I mean ones you have copied from CD’s to your hard drive). Are in one section now instead of cluttering up your playlist. But as with the previous instalment of Lips you aren’t supplied with words to sing along to. But I’m sure you already know them….. Don’t you!




Now the competitive singers among us (My wife especially) will like the new trophy feature and the position count down. As you sing through a song your are shown your position in the world and what colour trophy you are on course to winning. Obviously the better you do the higher the position and you gets cups from Bronze to Platinum. Now the updated position is only available if you are connected to Xbox Live and only on the new tracks on Lips Number 1 Hits.

Now this is the first game I have played that has Unlockable items for your avatar. I won’t ruin it for you and tell you what I have got so far, but there are ten to unlock. There are also 9 new achievements worth 250 GS points and all are easy to get, although some will require some great singing!!

Now all the same modes are here and as in the previous Lips, but everything is that little bit smoother and more aesthetically pleasing! The introduction of your avatar to the proceeding adds that little bit more personalisation to the game, which in my opinion is welcome. There is also a duet mode now, which for the soppy ones among us will be a welcome improvement on the co-op feature of last year. As you actually sing separate parts of the songs. So you romantic ones can sing a song wit the missus, without ruining here bits with your free styling.




As with most sequels, there are certain area’s which people want building on, content, improved playing and the extra fun factor. Now this game meets them all with ease. Although not technically a sequel it is still a must buy.

Finally all I can say is that I love this game and would recommend everyone to go the shop now and buy it. It is perfect for a party and even if you want to have a sing on your own, there are songs for everyone and with loads of DLC you should be able to find a few songs you can sing!

sounds like a nice lil game hendo. my family enjoys things like this, so It might be anotehr one for us all to enjoy together

I recommend you all get it!!! Its is a boss game to have and im sure with future DLC can only get better!!

The Supremes track pack has been put on today containing songs: Baby Love, Stop in the name of Love and You can't hurry Love!

All classics and no doubt the females will love to sing these songs!!!

I'm still undecided on the Lips games, due to the fact i think my wife has bought every singstar title going, yet only gets them out at xmas when we have lots of people round.

She's already told me there is a Singstar Take that coming out soon and is getting that. I might try and tempt her with this instead, at least i can get some gamerscore out of it lol.

Having played both Lips and Singstar (although an older one!), I have to say Lips is by far better and has a better choice of music and DLC.

I would convince her mate, you won't regret it!!!

Also then we can pitt our wives against each other!!!

although she can only play online on my gamertag, cos she doesn't play enough to warrant a 2nd gold account!

I might just buy her it for xmas lol!

My wife plays on mine, as she thinks computers are silly.... except for singing into!!! Shows what she knows!!!

But even if you get the first lips, then get the second one a while later, they are still worth the money.!!

Also the mics are really well made too, very robust and LEDs are boss....!

Does DLC cross editions of the game the rockband? Can each version get the same DLC
